Steve Tanner
Representative | District 13B
Steve Tanner is a Christian conservative representing Legislative District 13 (Eastern Nampa) in the Idaho House of Representatives. Raised in a military family, Steve moved frequently while growing up, living on both the East and West Coasts of the United States, as well as spending two years in the Philippines—experiences that shaped his appreciation for service, discipline, and diverse communities.
Steve and his wife, Kathy, have been married for 31 years and are the proud parents of three sons and grandparents to five grandchildren. Professionally, Steve spent most of his career in the information technology field, working as a computer programmer and data analytics professional. His career includes experience with organizations both large and small, including AT&T, Bank of America, Countrywide, Latham & Watkins, and Blue Cross of Idaho.
In addition to his professional background, Steve has devoted significant time to theological and counseling education. He holds a Master of Divinity degree from Fuller Theological Seminary and recently completed a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University. He is currently pursuing licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor while continuing his service in the Idaho Legislature.
Steve considers it one of the greatest honors of his life to serve the people of Idaho and to represent the residents of Legislative District 13 in the Idaho House of Representatives.
