Phil Hart

Senator | District 2

Senator Phil Hart is a dedicated and proven conservative who has lived in North Idaho since 1995. He currently represents legislative District 2 and resides in Kellogg, Idaho.

In 2022, Phil was elected to the Idaho Senate, where he serves on the Finance, Transportation, and Resources & Environment committees. Prior to this, he served in the Idaho House of Representatives from 2004 to 2012. During his time in the House, he maintained a consistently conservative voting record and authored significant legislation, including two bills that directly pushed back against the federal government.

Professionally, Phil is a licensed structural engineer and the owner of Alpine Engineering, a firm specializing in structural and civil engineering. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Utah and an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. His community service includes a seven-year term on the Board of the Remington Water District.

As an athlete, Phil has achieved notable success. He qualified for the U.S. Cycling Nationals and came within six seconds of the American record for the 10-mile time trial. He also won two World Cup races on the masters FIS alpine ski racing series.

Phil is a published author, a member of the American Legislative Exchange Council, Gun Owners of America, and the National Rifle Association. He is the proud father of his daughter, Sarah, who is pursuing a Ph.D. in Chinese Medicine.
