Dale Hawkins
Representative | District 2B
A conservative Christian husband and father of six, Representative Dale Hawkins currently serves the people of Idaho’s Legislative District 2B. Since his election in November 2022, he has been a steadfast advocate for the principles of individual liberty and limited government. His legislative record reflects a deep commitment to fighting for smaller government, lower taxes, parental rights, and expanded school choice.
Dale believes that the primary duty of government is to protect the unalienable rights endowed by our Creator. Drawing inspiration from Article I, Section 2 of the Idaho Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, he maintains that all political power is inherent in the people. He believes government should operate in the least intrusive manner possible, remaining watchful against overreach and the consolidation of centralized power. Unlike a business, he argues that government should never seek to grow or expand, but rather to function at the lowest cost to the citizens it serves.
Before entering public service, Representative Hawkins built a life rooted in hard work and the natural resource economy of North Idaho. His professional background includes years of experience in the logging industry and the ownership of HFP Construction, a family-run business established in 2006. Earlier in his career, he operated a landscaping and irrigation business, providing him with a firsthand understanding of the challenges facing small business owners and self-employed Idahoans.
His journey to Idaho began in 1996, when he and his wife sought a community that aligned with their values of homeschooling freedom, conservative principles, and a peaceful lifestyle. They settled in Fernwood in 1998 while he worked for the Emerald Creek Garnet Mining Company. This move was a continuation of a life dedicated to service, which included several years working in a ministry focused on drug and alcohol recovery.
Married since 1986, he and his wife have raised six children in the great state of Idaho. He remains dedicated to preserving the heritage of faith and freedom for the next generation and looks forward to continuing his service to the people of District 2.
