Cornel Rasor
Representative | District 1B
Cornel Rasor currently serves as State Representative for Idaho House District 1B. In the 2025 legislative session, he sponsored Senate Bill 1021 in the House, which amended provisions regarding the termination of parental rights to strengthen protections in child welfare cases.
Cornel, a North Idaho resident, grew up on his family's cattle ranch in Bonner County and graduated from Sandpoint High School. He furthered his education by studying veterinary science at the University of Idaho and North Idaho College. A dedicated local business owner, Cornel has operated the Army Surplus Store—originally in Sandpoint and now relocated to Ponderay—for over 44 years, bringing hands-on experience in budgeting, management, and the challenges facing Idaho businesses.
With more than 30 years of active involvement in Republican politics, Cornel has held numerous leadership roles, including precinct committeeman, Bonner County Central Committee chairman, Legislative District chairman, and various positions within the Idaho State GOP, such as Resolutions Committee chair and parliamentarian for standing committees and the general assembly. He served four years as a Bonner County Commissioner and currently chairs the Bonner County Natural Resources Committee. Known as an expert in parliamentary procedure, Cornel frequently trains officials in Robert's Rules of Order and coordination practices, while collaborating with state legislators on bills and research. He is a sought-after speaker and trainer at local and regional events on topics including the Second Amendment, state land reclamation, inter-agency coordination, and parliamentary procedure.
Deeply rooted in his community and a strong advocate for pro-life policies, Cornel and his wife, Kim Luckey Rasor, have been married for 49 years and reside on a small farm south of Sagle, Idaho. They have three children and 16 grandchildren, all living in Idaho. The Rasor’s are active in their faith as a church board member and elder at Kootenai Community Church, and they previously volunteered at the Sandpoint Life Choices Center.
